D-Day

Lately I have been insanely busy preparing for the upcoming DTS. It is my responsibility to book the speakers, organize the justice and the arts portions of our school, and help train the new staff amongst other things. It’s been a lot of fun and now that Cody, Lauren, and Stephanie who will be staffing my school have joined me in the efforts, the workload has been offset.

The most interesting dynamic about preparing for this school is that we are trying something new here at our base. We are a visionary, apostolic base, which means that we love to venture uncharted territory and try new things as the Spirit leads. This upcoming season God has placed on my heart to head up and pioneer a new Justice and the Arts (J&A) DTS. My friend Brandon has also been working on getting the first official Surf DTS off the ground. This means not only two brand new programs but also a double in the number of students we would like to see attend our schools. Our goal (and requirement) is to have 15 students per school. This has indeed been the biggest area of stress up to date.

If you’re wondering why my post is entitled D-Day, well that is because we have set December 7th as our cut-off date for any students seeking to apply. As of today we have 8 students accepted on the J&A DTS with 5 more in process and half a dozen application packets sent out. The Surf DTS has 5 students accepted with 3 in process. When you do the math it is clear to see that the criteria of 15 students per school will not be met at our current rate. For various reasons, most of them financial, we will not be able to run two separate schools if we do not have at least 30 students.

I am confident of this, that God has placed each of these schools on our hearts for this particular season and that he is in control of what is happening. Regardless of whether or not we will be combining the schools we will still have two separate focuses. The only changes will be regarding staffing, traveling, housing, and speakers.

I am asking that as you read this post and as you think about me or our base this week, would you please hold this particular issue up in prayer. We are open to the Lord changing things and we are moving forward with making these the best schools we have ever run at our base. I also appreciate any feedback or questions you have about anything that you’ve read. Thank you in advance for your prayers!

Cindy,

I love that you are part of a YWAM base that embraces the kind of vision that demands going into "unchartered" territory! :o) Gives me hope for returning to YWAM soon! I'll be praying for y'all!

Love,
