Over the past two weeks I have been blown away by God. He doesn't seem to amaze me. The mercy, grace, compassion, and love he has for us his children continues to stir my heart of worship for him. God has worked miracles both in my life, and the lives of those around me in the past two weeks. May these accounts of God's provision bless you and make you fall more in love with Christ.
As some of you know, about two years ago I had been experiencing stomach problems. I was diagnosed with several allergies and it was suggested that I try cutting wheat out of my diet to see if that was the problem. I stopped eating wheat entirely, and radically changed my
diet. This seemed to do the trick. So, since the fall of 2006 I have eaten almost no wheat, and any time I have, I've experienced a very unpleasant reaction. Knowing that my food options in Africa would be limited and sensing that the Lord wanted to free me of this food intolerance I went to a local church to receive prayer for healing.
I have not seen many healings occur in my lifetime, I can count on one finger the number of times I have felt God heal my body (a minor stomach ache) so I went in not entirely sure what to expect. All I knew is I wanted healing and I had faith that God could do it. As two ladies prayed for me I sensed the Lord telling me to walk out the healing I would receive. After the prayer time a few friends and I went to get pizza, a meal I had not enjoyed in a long time. Glory and praise to God for the healing he has given me! In the past two weeks since I received prayer, I have eaten wheat products without any negative reactions. God has completely healed me of my wheat intolerance!
Over the past week I have come down with a case of shingles on my stomach. Although I was almost sure of my diagnosis and know that it is a virus that can run it's course without treatmen
t, with myself and the team leaving for Africa in less than a week I wanted to see a doctor as soon as possible. It goes without saying that the medical system in the U.S runs differently than that in Canada. A simple doctor's appointment starts at 100$ and runs upwards from there. Prescription medications are considerably more expensive than those in Canada. With the cost of outreach and bills looming ahead I knew God would have to provide a way for me to be able to see doctor. After calling a local friend of YWAM with many connections, she suggested a christian MD., Dr. Lickness. Although this doctor is a specialist and does not usually deal with general family practice issues he heard about my situation and made it possible for me to see him on such short notice.
My appointment was this morning and as I was driving I wasn't sure what the cost would be and how much the prescription would be, so I prayed that the Lord would allow it to be free and that my medication would be free or very cheap as well. God hears our prayers. Not only was Dr. Lickness extremely friendly and comforting, but he gave me the medication I needed at no cost and did not charge me for the appointment. Praise God for his provision and that the church truly has no walls!
As if God hasn't been amazing enough, he has blessed our team even more. As of five hours ago our team was 1830.00$ short for our outreach costs (pocket change to God). In YWAM we have a value where before asking others for finances we look to ourselves and ask what can we give. In that spirit the entire staff and student body joined this evening in prayer specifi
cally asking God for finances. We each asked God how much we were to give and then dropped it in a hat in the middle of the room. Before counting the money we prayed that God would multiply it and provide for the team, and as the money was counted we continued in prayer thanking God for his continued provision.
After all the donatios were placed in the hat and all the money was counted we not only had raised enough money to cover the cost but had an extra 521$ We responded by praising and thanking God for his financial provision. I truly believe God blesses those who give and he multiplies what is given. We experienced that tonight. Now out of our overflow we will be able to bless our brothers and sisters who are ministering full time in Africa! Praise God for his generocity and his overflowing goodness towards us!
I hope you have been encouraged and blessed at just a few of the ways God has been working in our lives. Please pray that this would be just the beggining of what God is going to do in and through our team as we head to Africa in 4 days!
