California...Thailand...Where Next?!

Well, after being here for only 1 day, God told me to pack up and head to Thailand for a couple of weeks! I had to laugh, sometimes God opens up the most unexpected oppurtunities. Of course I was ridiculously excited. God placed Thailand on my heart a couple of years ago, specifically to work with prostitutes, which I'll be doing during this trip. For some reason though, I just never thought I'd be going so soon. So here I am, one week into my YWAM commitment and one week away from a short-term trip to Thailand. I will be serving at an orphanage in Chiang Mai for one week doing a variety of work there. From helping with kids, to possibly doing maintenance on the buildings. After one week in Chiang Mai, I will be heading to Pattaya to work with a ministry YWAM has there. It is called the Tamar Centre, and helps minister to some of the estimated 2 million prostitutes in the Kingdom of Thailand. Through my personal preparation for the trip, God has shown me that this will be a time of building foundations to minister in Thailand in the future. Please be praying for me as I am there between September 23rd and October 3rd.
One thing that God has been reminding me so much of is that He is so faithful to reveal His heart to those who seek it. Though I am only done one week of my two week orientation with YWAM Pismo Beach and Central Coast, He has already begun showing me my direction for ministry in this area. My orientation has included tours of the towns that make up the Central Coast of California. In each place, we stop and pray for God's heart for that town, and seek his redemptive purposes for that area. It's been interesting as each town has such a unique flavor and the potential for ministry is unique in each place. As a base, part of our original vision is to have community houses (homes where staff live and operate a unique local inreach) in every town in the Central Coast. It is exciting to hear that among the staff, God has given individuals specific hearts for certain towns. After seeking God, I believe that I am to be in Pismo Beach for this time. Two other staff members and I are on the house hunt in that area. It is a town in which it is very difficult to find anywhere to live, so please be praying as we step out in obedience to God's calling on our hearts for Pismo Beach.

Thailand sounds like an incredible experience for you. Please have a little bit of fun for me! Until we're able to travel in the future, Daniel and I have decided to truly explore this big country we live in (not as big as ours of course!! haha). He hasn't seen a lot of the big things, like Yellowstone, Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, Tahoe, etc. I have a list of places I want to see here in the states, and then I'll put together a scrapbook of our travels. Anyway, you leave so soon so hope you're able to update from over there! Don't forget your camera!

your sister in Christ,
